The school began at Windsor Heights in a five-room house with 40 children. Its rapid growth necessitated a new building, which was opened in January 1976 on Coke Drive. This facility was extended in 1978, 1982 and 1989. A fifteen-station computer lab was added in 1996 and a second fifteen station lab was added in 1998. In 1999 a stimulation Centre was added to each of the Kindergarten to Grade two Classrooms. The staff was also increased and now consists of 21 full time teachers and several part-time teachers for several special subjects. The ancillary staff increased to 6 workers.

The school has a balanced programme of instruction centered around Language Arts and Mathematics.

The language programme is Phonics-based with emphasis on Reading, Grammar, Spelling and Composition Writing (Communication Task). The Math programme is arithmetic based and covers geometry and measurement. Secondary subjects- Science, Social Studies and Religious Education- begin in Grade One as Integrated Studies. More emphasis is placed at Grade Three when the children have acquired strong reading, writing and study habits. The school participates in the Ministry of Education National Assessment Programmes and enters students for the Grade One Readiness Test (Grade One Individual Learning Profile – GOILP), Grade Three Diagnostic Tests, Grade Four Literacy and Numeracy Tests and PEP Four, Five and Six Achievement Tests.

Santa Prep is a completely privately-owned institution and receives no financial support from the government or from any church or business. Its operation is funded by the tuition that parents pay and fundraising efforts.
